The new tram/train emerges from the Nunnery Lane Depot for the TV and Press on 10 December 2015

The new Tram Train made an appearance for the television and press on the 10 December 2015. The local BBC TV Look North featured an item about the tram/train and the progress of the project.  The Tram Train passenger services are expected to run from Sheffield to Rotherham from early 2017.

Three of the new tram/trains will go into service on the existing routes in the summer of 2016 according to the Transport Minister Andrew Jones spoke to both BBC and ITV Calendar about the project.

Trackwork taking place 16th January 2016 (news added 8th February 2016)

Alterations taking place to the tracks to accommodate the new wheel profile of the new tram trains. The approaches to Meadow Hall including the alterations to this road crossing under the M1 viaduct. . Whilst below the new tram resides in the siding as this work takes place. 

The overhead line is switched off and grounded whilst this work takes place as here over the canal bridge as the check rail is altered.

Whilst on a visit to see the Christmas Market at York a visit to the National Railway Museum at York was a must for myself and Bob.  We took advantage to have a cup of Yorkshire Tea and other items to go with the cuppa.  Above left insert is a photograph of the main street and area with th chalets and other stalls.

Doncaster's Platform "0" progresses  28 November and 8th December 2015

Work continues apace on the new Platform "0" at Doncaster Railway Station. The new platform is starting to take shape as seen on Saturday 28th November 2015

A closer view of the new platform and the point work on the North side of platform 1. Platform 2 is still as busy as ever with the trains to London and Manchester Airport.

Latest views as 8th December 2015.  Good progress is being made on the new platform and the other work related to the creation of this new facility for the Doncaster Railway Station.
