In the Thorne Memorial Park members are now busy fitting extra point work and a diamond crossing to do a figure of 8 operation whilst at the same time adding a third rail for 5 inch gauge locomotive operation on the inner track. The photograph to the right was taken at this location where the new work is being carried out when it was well covered with snow. Also a new coach very similar to Margaret is now well under construction.

The new crossing as 2 December 2012 and the third rail being added for the operation of 5 inch rolling stock.

A cold Frosty Thorne Memorial Park 12th December 2012

The cold frosty weather finally took its leave on Friday 14th December whether it will be a white Christmas we shall have to wait and see at this stage it looks like being a Green Christmas for 2012.

Perhaps the only place to be to see snow and railways will be Switzerland as we sampled on a holiday there in 2006.  Interesting overhead wires on the photograph on the right.

On December 14th 2012 it was 49 years since the last Trolleybus ran in Doncaster

Meanwhile former Doncaster Trolleybus 375 has been moved into the museum's workshops at Sandtoft  to enable further work on the exterior to continue in December.

On the evening pf the 14th December Doncaster trolleybus No 375 made its last journey along the  Beckett Road route from the Golden Fleece pub to the Coop with invited guest s and the civic dignities on board.  The vehicle was obtained by the Doncaster Omnibus & Light Railway Society for preservation. The vehicle operated again at the Trolleybus Museum at Sandtoft in Sept 1972. It was a popular vehicle with the visitors, but by 1989 the vehicle had to be withdrawn from service at the museum due to need to replace various parts. The society own many other vehicles that were inline for restoration. Now it is the turn for this trolleybus to be restored and brought back to life for December 2013.  A Corgi model has been brought for the occasion with proceeds going towards the restoration.  The model of Doncaster Trolleybus 375 is now available limited edition so hurry to obtain one or two, yes two one has Hexthorpe as a destination or Wheatley Hills.
