Sunday 6th 2011 Warm sunshine but a bit of a nip in the air the locomotive 'The Duke' driven by Michael and on the guards coach Cyril keep a watch on they younger teenagers enjoying an afternoon in the park.

From left to right: Locomotive 'John L Stokes'. Middle and Right: One of the rarer times when the photographer gets photographed. Yes myself Bob taking the train around in the afternoon sunshine.

The TMCR FM display with the Dansette record player of the late Walt Ashton and some Salter scales made in Britain attract the attention of our member David Stubbins before he goes to check the train service.

Extra Operating Day Wednesday 30th March 2011

Train all set for a visiting school. Unfortunately there was a mix up of location and the school visit had to be cancelled. However a train service was provided for some of the visiting youngsters and their parents. The green gazebo was for the    TMCR FM display and outside broadcast unit and a link up with the radio studio in Moorends. This sadly did not take place and no outside broadcast went ahead.

Sunday 3rd April 2011

Not the best of weather but at least 111 passengers were carried who braved the weather which after a beautiful sunny start clouds built in from the west giving the odd light shower. One bad bit of news is that electric control unit on the green locomotive "John L Stokes" featured above and on our home page failed. "The Duke" the other sizeable electric locomotive was pressed quickly into service.

Sunday 10th April 2011 Working Day

Spring arrived in the park, with all the blossom out on the trees and weather ideal for replacing the curve leading from the Thorne Central station. Out with the old in with the new. The rail for the 5 inch gauge rolling stock has yet to be added. It had been planned to carry out the removal of the unwanted curve during the winter months but due to the earlier very cold weather this set the project by a month or two.
Now spring has arrived the grass also needed a first cut of the season and was soon put to the test after having a major overhaul. This will now need cutting every week or so but that is one way of doing some walking exercises and doing something practical.

Saturday 16th April 2011 Working Day

More track work underway. Mick and Paul mixing the cement whilst Keith levels the track and adds more sleepers. Myself not on camera this time helped with some of the work after most of it had been done I think that the description, although my aching back tells me otherwise. Please note that the third rail has been added for the 5 inch gauge locomotives and rolling stock.

Easter Sunday and Monday 24th/25th April 2011

The first train of the day takes a spin around the track whilst later things get much busier in the park as more visitors arrive in the park

A busy time for the members from the local community radio station TMCR FM who were kept busy with the "Hunt the Egg" competition. Bob, Adge and Malcolm (with the guards whistle)   Photo by Matthew Bunting From a different egg has appeared these very young Ducklings who are keeping their mother very busy.

Rabbit with egg No 9  has just been located. David and Alex with the mass of electronic equipment that David brought to operate a link with the radio station and "live" CD and computer music. Finally Keith tests the locomotive John L Stokes for it to take over from The Duke.

Myself photographed by my wife Pat about to set of with a train with the locomotive "John L Stokes" from the Thorne Central station. To the right we have two of our junior members (nearest to the camera.) at the D&DMESL sales and ticket stall.

Here comes the sun even though the weather man forecast rain and cold Northerly winds. Instead the sun continued to shine for most of the day warm enough for that picnic in the park. It was not until evening that the cold northerly arrived long after our trains had been safely packed away and passengers were home enjoying their teas.

Wroot-Travis C.E. Primary School visit 28th April 2011

All three of our open bench coaches were used for this school visit. Luckily the rain showers that had been forecast kept their distance. This was the first school visit of 2011.
