Thursday 4th February 2010 Yet another fall of snow covers the tracks in the park. However this was only a brief fall compared with the bitterly cold weather and falls of snow in January. The snow circle above right reveals the area where there was once a children's roundabout in the park near to the wall where the siding is to the shed. The photograph below is a roundabout very similar to the one now long removed.
Sunday 7th February 2010 Due to bad weather including snow and ice in the park the "First Train of 2010" event had to be postponed in January. Jordan is seen with 2010 headboard to replace the 2009 one. A new visiting locomotive for 2010 brought by Jordan to test on the tracks in the park.
First of the group photographs for 2010. Top right to left David, Matthew then James and Jordan. Above right Brian brings the electric locomotive onto the curve for the Thorne Central Station with some of the passengers giving a wave.
Sunday March 7th 2010 Brilliant warm sunshine after a very frosty dawn brought out the visitors to the park and the miniature railway. One of the regular listeners (to the right with grey sweater)) to the local community radio station TMCR 93.5FM paid for 40 Free rides for the passengers in memory of his late father Walter Moore who worked on the railways. The event was advertised on the radio station and very quickly the free tickets were snapped up. So a further 20 Free tickets were made available by Ged.
Mothering Sunday March 14th 2010 After some early sunshine shower clouds moved in from the NE rattling down with hail, not the best of weather to attract visitors to the park and the railway.
A new locomotive ventures out onto the tracks built up from a chassis made by Wilf Hawdon about 20 years ago. The locomotive is fitted with a Sinclair C5 motor. Our member Jordan did all the bodywork, and our member John Stokes built the electric controller. This is Bob in the driving seat having just returned from Ross-on-Wye. Matthew down on his knees whilst JK checks the clubs steam locomotive Koppel for a new firegrate.
Matthew brings the electric locomotive John L Stokes into Thorne Central station with the first passengers (including a mother) on the special coach "Margaret". The train on the inner track is the members training train. In the middle photograph we see Jordan who built the bodywork for his new locomotive. To the right the GNER locomotive making an appearance but as yet not in regular passenger service as more work is carried out to the electrics. Photographs by David Stubbins
